Positivity: Social Media

We’ve all heard the thrashing of social media, and although it does have many drawbacks, lets focus on some of the positive elements that people may not always see. From twitter to Deviantart, the range of social media varies greatly. While Instagram and snapchat are meant to capture quick moments, Facebook and Youtube are meant last with a timeline and timeless viral videos. Deviantart and Tumblr are meant to be places to share artwork and opinions of other popular media. Starting with Deviantart, there are always haters and cyber bullies or trolls that do what they do, but websites like this one are amazing for upcoming artists. This site allows artists to connect and share their art with other artists and get their input. This site even allows artists to sell their art. For an artist like me, that doesn’t need to be famous, but simply wants a second opinion and to become inspired by others works, I think it would be worth getting. Skype and Facebook are great for long distance. If you have family or friends in other countries, you can connect with them and/or share with them your pictures and latest news, it makes them feel closer to home. All social media with chats or group options make things much more convenient especially if you don’t have all the contact information you would normally need. Social media can help people find common ground and find people that like the same things they do. Tumblr is famous for this. People of every varying age and gender will come together anonymously to talk passionately about the things they love. Social media also builds confidence. When having a bad day, for some people one nice comment or one like can turn their frown upside down. For every good point of social media theres a downer, but there are truly good points.
